So my faithful followers (myself and......??!!), somehow a year has passed. I continue the battle with exercise, sometimes making headway, often sliding. Today is a good day - the weather is perfect and I rode my bike to work, as a result, taking the opportunity to leave early I took a 10 mile detour to pedal that single speed up and down the north face of K2 (at least I am pretty sure my rolling suburban hills exert a similar palpitation inducing effect). How happy is the man who has done worthy work and can now sit back and enjoy the perfect evening without a trace of guilt because of what one knows should be done a la exercise.

End of Day 1 of MS ride at the Bourne Maritime academy |
Did I ever report on the MS 160 miles ride last year, if not let me just say - it was stupendous. I developed such a sore foot from the pedal that it could not be believed and the first 3 hours were miserable rainy weather but I loved the entire thing. How beautiful is Massachusetts and no traffic getting to the Cape in the summer - likely I got there quicker on the bike than car. And, after all that riding, it was a quick shower and rush to catch the 4 hour ferry ride back to Boston, a party boat - dancing, loud music, general revelry. The adrenalin only stopped on arrival at the harbour. And, I thought I was going to have to ride the 6 miles home - not a pleasant thought for all the exhaustion plopped right into me as we hit the Quayside. Thankfully my friend was picking up his fiance, my riding partner, and gave me and my bike a ride home.
I did not do it this year ! I simply did not have time to put in the hours and hours of training but, I am tempted for next year.
